Ricki Lee Mohler, Gazebo Textiles
1009 Betty Lane, Lewisburg, PA
Ricki Lee Mohler is a fabric artisan in the Lewisburg area and fully immersed in the central PA Arts community. Her fabric creations include artwork and quilts, as well as a unique line of "wearable art" of scarves, kimonos, tops, dresses and more!
"Throughout my life I have drawn, painted, sculpted, collaged, and sewn, and have found that fabric, with its tactile & color-saturated nature, is the perfect medium for my artwork. I melded my historical interest in traditional quilting with a passion for art, resulting in a body of work that is a continuing experimentation with hand-painted and other unusual fabrics. I use a myriad of techniques not commonly associated with quilting or art, but still based in the common elements of good design."
Gazebo Textiles, established in 2001, is named for the backyard gazebo where Mohler learned to paint, batik & discharge fabric. The focus of Gazebo Textiles is "Unique Clothing for Interesting People" with hand-made creations that keep the lines of the clothing simple & let the fabrics be the star of the show. Ricki uses cottons, silks, silk blends, poly – whatever appeals to her at the time, so the range of wearable art constantly changes.
"Inspiration for fabric design comes from the things in life that have interested me over the years – American Indian archaeology, Medieval times, outer space, South American traditional music, or just intense colors."
Look for Gazebo Textiles at arts festivals, craft shows, shops & galleries. Sales/special orders and wholesale inquiries are welcome, as well as those seeking information on commissions, exhibits, lectures & workshops for arts organizations, quilt guilds, surface design seminars & galleries.
